I almost missed the news that 'Smiling Girl' is 'poem of the day'! Well, my friend, I'm late, but here I am.. :) Indeed, I had often wondered when one of your poems* would be made 'poem of the day'.. since your poetry is REAL POETRY and awakens its readers to the reality of the world.. - Well done, PH! (*there are many that should be such)

Dear Fabrizio. A lot of this poem belongs to you. I remember writing a few weird ones like PoΓ¨te Maudit and Fragmented Thoughts, poems filled with unnecessary jargons and writien, as I can fully admit, with an intention to 'show off' my 'intellect', and you advised me to write poems as poems should be written, with images and a poetic language. This poem might have come without that advice, but never would it have taken the shape it took. I will take those words of yours that made me a 'real 'poet' to my grave dear friend. You have shaped me, alongside Daniel, Pam, and Kelly, in particular, into a poet I am πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡

The first image that came to my mind on reading this poem was that of an air hostess who always wears a smile on her face. But, when she is her own self, there may be hundred and one problems afflicting her. This is quite often these days to encounter people with dual or a personality. Thanks a lot, Souren.

This is a wonderfully written and insightful piece. I think we both understand the psychology of what you describe, but your description is hauntingly poetic and the metaphors are sharp and pointed. Glad to see you, and this piece get this recognition. Peace and love.

Smile have miles apart when it comes to love, the story behind the smile is sometimes nostalgic and intriguing so be careful while dealing with such smiles. A thoughtful poem Souren and Congrats for the honours POTD....

Beautiful poem and a pleasure to read. Yes many broken hearts and toes are hidden behind some smiles. She is courageous to keep on smiling. A positive attitude is the biggest asset. Someday she would smile I her heart too. Congratulations for poem of the day selection.

The third stanza is breathtakingly beautifully written. While reading, a wave of certainty came that one day she will discover the great healing power of absolute forgiveness and break out of the opaque glass globe and smile inside again too. Hatred inside is like the acid rain, only damaging ourselves Forgiveness is like sunshine, like honey, curing our soul.

Such a beautiful depiction of a girl's innermost self. A female often has to wear a fake smile in front of the world. Congrats on well-deserved honor of being the poet of the day.

Hiding her pains, she was flashing her sweet smile- - -The picture you painted through your beautiful words is true of many innocent girls who go through pains yet do not show it.Hiding one's pain even to a lover may have many reasons behind it.Sometimes one may hide, because she does not want to hurt him.One may think that showing pain is treated as one's weakness. Smile can also be pretentious.Your poem expresses tender and sweet feelings.A great write.Congratulation for Poem of the Day.
