To me too, all old things are nice, as an old wife. 'I don't feel any low-brow riding a cab or a taxi' - that's good, that's a positive attitude.

Material things eating up the brains of mankind! ! ! Without seeking for the works of the truth; Rather to gain wisdom with the muse of righteous laws! Able to gain Salvation than, Wasted money on material things; Erathly entertainments. Thanks for sharing this poem with us.

I am not in this race. I, too, have an old fashioned cell phone and I am satisfied with. I am also tired of telemarketing. It's a wonderful poem.

hahahahahahahahaha- -delightful! I am handicapped by computer ignorance so new phones, puters, gadgets are wasted on me. I cannot afford those snazzy expensive cars- - but I would love love love to own a 1964 Mustang!

Hmm you dear sweet poetess. You see buying a favourite cherished luxury item is not reproachable at all, I would look up 1964 mustang to see if it's a horse or car. I would love to have a pink or green SUV or Noah. What is criticisable is if people just go hoarding every new gadget phone and car they see as the latest on the market. There are people like that. Warmest thanks for your cool super thoughts on this.

Without consumption, the economic system seemingly can't keep ahead of debt and unemployment. Even so, the economy of planned obsolescence can't go on forever. Our planet's reserves of lithium, platinum, tungsten, molybdenum etc. have limits. Your take on this issue is light-hearted, but your values point in an uplifting and viable direction.

Wow I'm impressed how you phrased your comment with deserved witty sarcasm and reflection. And your views on the limit of natural resources ought to warn the obsolescent folks everywhere. Thanks for your super great comment!

It's not the rat race...it's the luxury car! Such a great verse. I am for very old cares and pristine beaches! This verse goes to myfavourites.

You have profoundly summed up materialism and the rat race. With style. And a sense of humour. A very entertaining read! Thank you for your invite.

Of course with limited income one cannot afford to have a Ferrari or Land Rover. But that is not the issue.... whether we can afford or not, will one be happy with moderate facilities...! That depends solely on one's mind set. Greatly enjoyed your poem. Thanks for inviting to read this.Top marks....

Cont/..We also did buy a Land Rover at reduced price coz hubby wanted it and got it low price for it had gone through an accident and the owner didn't want a repaired vehicle but I never dreamed or wished or of it or any other costly item of luxury. Now we have a Toyota smaller 4 wheel that gets us along. Warm thanks for your thoughts on my poem.

'If you are into scholarly pursuits, you haven't time for any snobbery! ' You are absolutely right Zayanoob....! When we have something mind boggling to do, we won't care for ostentatious snobbery. My only criterion in choosing something is to see if it will serve my purpose and if I am moderately comfortable with it.

Hi Valsa, u spelt my name with double oo's gah. Yes true when we have worthwhile hobbies then snobbery doesn't appeal to us. Yeah what is useful and comfortable is good. Thanks for your comment!

I love this poem. I agree that it is a rat race. Far too many people hurt their savings and go into debt to keep up with the display of their own vanity in front of others. A simple comfortable life is so much preferred over a life filled with ostentatious glitter. I think that the joy, hidden in a random kind act is a hundred times bigger than the joy of obtaining a piece of material wealth. One thing for sure: it lasts a lot longer!

Thanks so very much for your great thoughts that add wisdom to my poem in how you think materialism can hurt us.

Very much to my own taste. So much more real value in a Woman's smile or the flow of white Jasmine in my garden and its delicious scent. I choose a simple car that takes me to where I want to go and can't be bothered with I phones and even mobiles. Poets like you see beyond the mere surface glitter and I much commend your poem.

I'm super glad this is to your taste poet. Even your comment, your appreciation of a woman's smile and nature is rich and poetic for possession. Thanks soo much for your great super thoughts on this that resonate with me.

The right attitude, poets are generally not so materialistic, you're right again but I'm surprised you know quite a bit about cars. This one from one not in rat race...
