Smart Old Dog Poem by Dorsey Baker

To be old as he is
He ain't slowed down too much
He still barks at the neighbors
And chased that cat
Just as much as he always did
Just as fast as
He always was

He could always out run me
His eyes so very bright
And they don't miss a thing
And it don't seem he has no
Loss of hearing

He is strong and it seems that
He has still got a lot of fight in him
I ain't seen no dog
Whip him yet
Just because he has been around
A very long time
That don't make him weak!
That just makes him smarter
Than when he was a
Younger dog!
