Sm026. Sri Aurobindo, The Purna Yogi Poem by Rajaram Ramachandran

Sm026. Sri Aurobindo, The Purna Yogi

THE MOTHER OF PONDICHERRY

Heaven was refused by Buddha,
And also by Swami Vivekananda,
For the reason, the Earth was in darkness,
Stuffed with millions of suffering souls.

Sri Aurobindo also refused Heaven,
As for him, the Divine must come down,
Instead of a few yogis going to Heaven,
While millions on Earth suffer in pains.

Yogis disregard the body as false,
In trying for Heaven thru' penance,
But he was for Divine's light, love, power,
To fill minds, hearts, also bodies forever.

A scientist discovered electric bulbs
And millions are using these bulbs,
Like this, if one Divine descends,
It'll benefit millions of sufferers.

This was working in his mind,
All the time, in order to find,
A way out to bring the Divine,
Down below with his action plan.

When his soul met the Divine,
At one stage, he opted to remain
In his body, not leaving the Earth,
Thus escaping from his death.

He told that his yoga was one,
Not for any high ideal or Heaven,
But it's meant to bring down,
The kind and all-powerful Divine.

He did yoga with all his might,
And down came the Divine light,
It descended only on his soul,
But not on Earth that was his goal.

In 1950, he withdrew from his body,
But remaining in his subtle body,
He continued to do his work again,
Rejecting Heaven for his salvation.

With the Divine love and grace,
He still in his subtle body shines,
And continue to bless his devotees
For their ultimate Divine lives.
