Slumber Poem by Ben Littlechild

Slumber

One day I will end,
Cease to be
No more chocolate, no more tea.
The sun will rise and set without me.

One day I will be no more.
No care of the latest rugby score, or a nation's ongoing war.
Religion will be of no consequence or comfort to me
Storms will rage on and I will sleep for ever more

No longer will music move me nor a song escape my lips
No movies to cry or laugh to
I'll miss those long soaks in warm bubbly baths.
My bones forever cold in the darkened earth.
I sleep, I rest, a passing memory on someones daydream

Children will play, enjoy life on the grass above me.
For I have ended, and your time will come too one day.
The moments you have now, will cease to be.
Enjoy your chocolate, Enjoy your tea
While out of this eternal bed you remain free.
