Skip Poem by Stefan Splawinski

Skip

to cricket lovers of the south
vision of a jolly dashing game
an end to dull dreary summers
midshipman from dartmouth came

batting at lowly six or seven
as reserve keeper or midwicket
captain of a championship side
ingleby-mackenzies fun cricket

with shackleton and livingstone
marshall the west indian star
hampshire county were the side
that took the one day game far

such a feast of entertainment
colin had advocated all along
when they asked for his formula
he replied wine women and song
