Six Gemstones: (August,2015) Poem by DM W

Six Gemstones: (August,2015)

Rating: 5.0

Six gemstones to cherish in a cynical world:
One a streaky, blue - green miniature globe
That radiates with all forms of teeming life;
One pure white: a gift of innocence and wonder;
To clutch tightly during pitch- black, starless nights;
One fiery orange that contains within it
The power and innumerable secrets of the sun;
Another, as blood red as a rose, that courses
Through Nature's veins like summer's wine;
And two golden ones left, to burnish the eyes of a sphinx.

Thanks guys...this is an old poem that I've reworked slightly. It was composed on a poetry retreat several years ago as part of a creative writing exercise.

Wow! Brilliant poetry writing on display here Dominic. A poem to truly enthral and captivate. Your great poetry imagination has no and knows no bounds, the way a great poet should think and never be scared of any criticism, the torpedoes and all that. I wish more people on this site make the effort and time whenever possible to read an/your original and breath-taking poem.10++ and quickly added to my favourites.
