Sinking & Drowning Poem by Karin Cassens

Sinking & Drowning

Often, I reach out to touch you, pausing shy of your skin.
The energy between my fingertips and your bare skin feels voltaic
It draws me to you
To pepper for skin with my lips
To taste the sweetness of your skin
I plunge into you like a child who falls helplessly into a pool
Boreal and beguiling
Yet without safety I fear I may drown
I know you will save me
Love overwhelming
Soul countenance forever
