A pair of eyes glowed in pitch darkness
Like two emeralds set on a black foil
The tabby cat paced across the doorway
Her tail, curled at her back like a coil

Excellent poem. The last lines of last two stanzas make us feel deep about the grievous event took place and the grief immeasurable of the mother bird.
A perfect relay of a hunting act with minute details in it. Liked the exact picturing of hunting, a fact though maybe cruel.
You captured the picture in all its detail. It is the story of predator and prey. Life seeks a balance in the wild.
Finally it is the survival of the fittest. The words captivated me at every bend. The story is simple but you made the poem spellbound by sketching a raw account of the little helpless babies and the feline creature. I could clearly visualize the anguish of the mother, the alarm of the birds and the callous cat devouring its prey. I loved this one.Characters brilliantly and skillfully described. Lines animating. Poem Outstanding! LOVED IT!
Verily, a heart touching poem, a good description of the cat's prowling....10
A wonderfully written poem, Valsa. You captured a vignette of reality in striking imagery. I like my friend, Akhtar's comment. What a cruel world, with such violence by humans and savagery by animals. At least the animals do it for survival and not greed.
The question arises why God depended one's life on the prey of another's life? If it all is planned why did he made such a plan? Nature is ancient, is nature the God? Is nature deaf, dumb and blind? Is life an accident or its's an ignored bye product? Who knows and who can reply!
Beautifully written and so vividly capturing the hunting act of a cat with a subtle poignant touch at the close.
Who can gauge the depth of pain she would feel! - surely anybody can feel the pain of the mother bird! especially when the chick is in the mouth of the cat, cruel!
Wah! Simple yet so meaningful and beautiful, a little sad but such is the reality of life. Thanks Valsa
Such an interesting thrilling story. I remember in our summer house we saved a small fledgling from cat, then it flied away, then was sitting in grass and a fat cat came again - and I just went to look and caught this fat cat! Nature knows no compassion!
It is a sad story touchingly executed. The creation of God is wonderful. He has created the predator as well as prey. The last Stanza' is much impressive. A brilliant poem amazingly shared.10/10
