Silly girl, can't you see me standing here?
Why do you seek gold where only fools tread?
Is it out of disinterest in me?
Or do I cause fear to enter your head?

I know you've never had someone like me
Be interested in all that you are
This path ahead, I know, is uncharted
But, know the destination is not far

Silly girl, do you not know who I am?
Can't you see the man you have long sought
Staring deeply into those dark brown eyes?
Will you see me? Or is it all for naught?

It's true I don't fit the mold of those men
Who you settle for, hoping love will be
In gardens of stone where love cannot breathe
And in fog so dense that you cannot see

I don't have the interests you hold high
Physicality laughable no doubt
I'll never be rich; yes, that much is true
And I'll likely never have fame or clout

But, I do know I could give you riches
Treasures that will not tarnish, rust, or mold
With love, eternal, and never changing
Arms to wrap around you as we grow old

I know I said I knew you would never
Be interested in a guy like me
But, I was at my lowest and sometimes
And negatives were all that I could see

But, my dear, I know who I am again
And I have not one doubt in my mind, now
That I am the one who loves you the best
And those vile voices I will not allow

Oh how I hope you can see me for me
And beyond all that which might divert
From all I could give you, now and always
Traits and qualities I will now assert

I will respond to your needs rapidly
And will always love you and never stray
I will strive each day to make you smile
With stupid jokes to help grief melt away

And when you become scared I will hold you
And when you cry I will sit with you there
When you are bored I will entertain you
I'll carry pain when it's too much to bear

And if you can see me for who I am
Then all of my days I will not find rest
Until you find your purpose and passion
And become that which is your very best

I will cheer you on from my front row seat
To the greatest show that ever will be
The miraculous metamorphosis
The most amazing girl, finally free

So take my hand and do not be afraid
To this new world you've never known before
You may not know what to do in that space
You've never been so completely adored

But, one thing I think you already know
You can trust me with your hopes and your dreams
And you know I'll never lead you astray
So trust when I say it's more than it seems

Walk with me, love, step by step, side by side
Try a love that's everlasting and true
Try giving an authentic guy a chance
And I will live my whole life loving you
