Silent Voice Poem by Mizuki Yamato

Silent Voice

I had stolen a face and locked it in my heart,
And never feared what people would say.
She sat two rows across from me,
Quiet eyes that never looked away.

The smile of the face lightened my days,
The rays of the eyes guided in the ways.
At first, I only watched from far,
But still, I followed where you are.

The real love formed in my heart with peace,
Then I could tell to God everything I had done.
First wishes at the first sight became the routine,
Each glance a prayer beneath the sun.

I listened patiently while you were talking,
The words were more friendly than I ever thought.
And slowly, your voice taught me to heal —
To forgive myself for all I'm not.

It reminded me that I was still alive,
A silent heart beginning to revive.

The fears are away from me now,
Like shadows fading from the brow.
I've become built up with higher ambitions,
Each step shaped by your quiet missions.

And then, very little —
All for you to believe, or not.
But even if you never knew,
You were the turning point I had sought.
