Silent Sentinel Poem by Phil J Hambling

Silent Sentinel

Silent Sentinel,
Senseless to the stories,
of how he came to be.
Be it God, Soldier, Emperor

Silent to the passings of time and tourism,
and those who cast their speculations.
Silent to those who would know him,
His secrets as deep as his defiant silence.

An interesting poem, though I never heard of the Long Man of Wilmington. I was drawn to your poem because I have one with the same title.
