Silencing Cicero Poem by Ima Ryma

Silencing Cicero

The great orator, Cicero,
Believed that Rome should always be
Governed a republic, and so
Fought against Caesar's tyranny.
Supporting Caesar being killed,
Cicero's words were eloquent,
In speech and writings he was skilled.
His foe, Marc Antony, thus sent
Soldiers to Cicero to end
His orations once and for all.
No more to be spoken or penned,
Cicero's head and hands did fall.

Cicero was silenced that day.
His head and hands went on display.
