To articulate the thoughts
That arise in me.

I can feel the sadness in the tone of the speaker. If only people could explore our inner thoughts! The dumb has so much to say, yet speechless.

I knew a stroke victim whose speech was unintelligible.; ( I could not understand him and he seemed very frustrated by the disability.: (

(cont.) GARBLED: 'garbled adjective Difficult to understand because it has been distorted; scrambled. Lacking orderly continuity. 'disconnected fragments of a story' '

stanza 4 makes me think that the speaker may be able to speak, but NOT so others understand. Perhaps she/he has a speech impediment, a BAD ONE, or garbled **** speech. (cont.)

I left this January 25,2021: 'Having read the title and poem carefully, it seems as though 'you' in the first line refers to the speakers tongue (maybe voice) . But even if she is mute, can't she write her words? I feel your poem (or Notes) should explain more.'

Rose Marie, your 'Topics' makes it clear that 'disability' is a subject/topic of the poem, but the poem does NOT make that clear to me, at least not if the 'disability' is inability to speak.

The first stanza 'stumps' me, aka is not understandable to/for me. ; ( IF the first line ended in 'me', not 'you', I might think the speaker was wishing to be able to use words to express her/his thoughts.

2 1/2 years ago I left two comments. I've returned because you suggested the poem & I'd forgotten I'd read it. (cont.)

Beautiful poem with emotional tone. The words spoken and unspoken highlight the emotions inside the mind.

I can relate to the first stanza! But I'm not very good at keeping silent.
