The ending is an unexpected escape at least in possibility. I'm assuming THE GODS AND GODDESSES of what you call REAL LOVE would greet you with open arms, so to speak. Still, I'm pulled back to earlier possibilities your poem raises - OBSESSED WITH GETTING AS FREE AS YOU CAN BUT STILL BOUND TO EARTH - that suggests there is no permanent residence in the heaven of REAL LOVE. And your self description as THE SHADOW OF AN ANGEL IN LOVE WITH THE FIRE OF TROUBLE suggests an earthly destiny which does not seek a false paradise of comfort but is faithful to the imperfect but genuine human experience of love. // I just re-read the poem and my impression that what you call A REAL WAY OF LIFE despite the blues and disappointments, enhances your being. You have been faithful to your human core of being, and that is a finer grace of being than living with gods and goddesses. What can Paradise offer compared to this achievement?
