Showroom Poem by Kishore Kumar Das

Showroom

The saree counter is busy
with the festive collections
colourful designs and prints
claimed to be heart-throbbing
more than the vibgyor...
flowers, leaves and creepers
an array of classical styles
a mini world of colours
the rational customer is puzzled!
whom to select, whom to reject
the epoch-making prints tinged with
romantic memoirs, nostalgia
preference of each other's choice
supplemented by the pride of showing-off
or the joy of the latest style
choice is made only to be rejected!
the battle for selection continues...
no time limit set for the achievement
at last comes the auspicious moment
a deal is struck! !
what a relief to the salesman! ! !
