Back when 'black'
was 'bleak' and 'sweart',
a 'short-black' was a 'scort-'
or a 'sceort-sweart',
or a 'scort-' or a 'sceort-bleak'.
'Old English' was 'ald Englisc',
not 'olde'.
A 'bird's beak' was a 'brid's bile'.
A bird's back was its 'beak'.
Our word too,
was theirs for 'gold'.
