Sheila Poem by Randy Briggs

Sheila

It hurts sometimes,
Sometimes the thought brings
To mind joys more joyous
Than Christmas morning to
A young child who could’ve
Been better off anyway.
It’s thoughts of her that pick
At my mind and my
Heart, transforming her love
Into more or less something
Possibly too great to have
Even been envisioned.
The way she smiles and
Laughs, or reads my
Facial expressions like a novel.
I fancy her love and perhaps
(though I do know for sure)
She fancies mine. (yes)
And when she’s by my side
I feel more and more
Drowned by her beauty and
The way she moves.
My body aches when she’s
Away. Time is exhausted but
I am not.
At one point I never saw love,
Now love surrounds my very
Being, and I will never truly know
The depth of her love or appreciation,
My affection has only begun,
I want her to know I
Lover her truly, everything else is second best,
To her and her love.
