She Left Without Leaving Poem by Klaren Madaka

She Left Without Leaving

She didn't walk away.
Not at first.
She just... stopped showing up with her soul.
Her body stayed.
But her warmth?
Gone.

You ever lay next to someone
And feel miles apart?
Like… you could reach out and still never touch their heart?

That was us.
A fading light.
A slow goodbye in real time.

I watched her eyes lose that spark—
The one that used to dance when she saw me.
Now they just stare…
Blank. Like she's here,
But dreaming of places I'll never be.

She started saying "I love you"
Like it was routine.
Not feeling.
Just... obligation.

And I replied with "I love you too, "
Even when mine was breaking.

It's wild, how someone can leave
Without packing a single bag.
Just change the tone.
The touch.
The way they stop laughing at your jokes.
The way they stop asking
If you made it home safe.

Love didn't slam the door.
It tiptoed out…
While I was still holding the pieces
Trying to make her stay
With promises, poems, and late-night calls
That she stopped answering.

And now...
Now I'm here
Writing about a girl
Who probably doesn't even think of me
When it rains.
