Shattered Glass Poem by Nell Sheridan

Shattered Glass

Staving off the darkness, which seeps wearily, within my conscious,
I apologise for my wrongs, questioning my God, sadly offering recompense,

Wait loudly and listen silentlyto my happiness disintegrating,

I tire of this battle, waging inner havoc, my disgraceso thankfully internal,
If you could see, my minds abundant disarray, surely you'd be mindful,

Wait loudly and listen silentlyto my life disintegrating,

Normality it seems so simplistic, those that possess it, fail to understand,
Myalternate normality, within all its glory, equatesto quicksand,

Wait loudly and listen silentlyto my normalitydisintegrating

Likeshattered glass, my mind can not be reconstructed, or restored to original state.
So dear mental illness, it seems your a winner after all, we just reached checkmate,

Wait loudly and listen silentlyto my soul disintegrating,

You underestimated me, I shall not go quietly, into the claustrophobic night,
Checkmate isjust the beginning,I am not done yet, I still have somefight,

Wait loudly and listen silentlyto this girl arising,

I will wage a war, unlike any predecessor, you will hear the battle cry,
If its war you want, then war it shall be, from this I shall not shy,

Wait loudly and listen silentlyto this girl fighting,

This shattered vase, will still shine bright, maybe brighter than before,
All the cracks apparent, glistening in the sun, even more beautiful someimplore,

Wait loudly and listen silentlyto this girl aspiring,

I can not be restored, that much is so clear, so I will start anew,
I will change, the game plan, much better than before, and to myself be true,

Wait loudly and listen silentlyto this girl changing,

I will contain you, all the inner havoc, you so abundantly reap,
I will not crumble, at the dangerous thoughts, or apparent lack of sleep,

Wait loudly and listen silentlyto this girl managing,

I challenge you, in all your malevolence, to keep me on the ground,
I challenge you, to take away the new me,I have recently found,

Wait loudly and listen silentlyto this girl still standing! ! !
