Shared Popsicle Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Shared Popsicle

Frozen treats for males and females, frozen treats help chaste courtship
Whether it comes in packs of 12 and you can fetch one from the freezer for her on a slow lazy weekend afternoon
Or you buy from the ice cream man, his music makes all the dogs bark
You hold hands and stand in front of your house

There is much I have not gotten that I wanted
But when I snap the popsicle and hand a half to her, it does not matter.

And it does not matter if it is orange or strawberry or grape
The mind plays tricks but the mind also hones in like a magnifying glass
It gets bigger and less inside itself and the what it is is easy - two people sharing a popsicle

And love comes easy leading to and during two people eating a popsicle
While the stars hang like fruit on a tree which will fall off soon and fill our hearts
Earlier, we came back from the store and ran from the car to get the popsicles into the freezer so they wouldn't melt
