Shame Is Not My Name Poem by Doreen Mampani

Shame Is Not My Name

No child was ever named
Shame by his mother when born
Shame not accepted not welcome
Shame is not my name

Through rape the boy was conceived
His mother by her uncle raped
A shame in the family
A same in the community
But shame is not my name

So the poor boy was humiliated
At school bullied in class
A fault of his it is not
Evil committed under the sun
Shame is not my name

My father to blame for his deeds
Shame his name to be
For sacrilege he committed
Before the eyes of God his Creator

Before God of heaven I bow
Confessed my own sin
Confessed my father's sin
