Shame on us
that we at our level of human evolution
are talking about nuclear war
Shame on humanity
for along the way we became addicted
to money, to power
Shame on us
that in this century, bombs are still falling
and causing immense destruction
Shame on humanity
that warfare has not been banned
at this stage of evolution
Shame on us
That we still kill each other
that we still hate so much
Shame on humanity
for not having discovered the key
to happiness and peace of mind
Shame on us
for not living a life of kindness
of compassion and empathy
Shame on humanity
that for ignoring the wisdom of so many
that pure happiness lies in altruism
I concur with the comments of Poetess J. Randall. I hope that this wonderful and powerful poem so excellently expressed will be read by all and realize the evil ways of humanity that must be addressed/changed.
A true depiction of what is the world today. Hate and greed are so embedded in the core of humanity that peace and happiness are hard to attain. War has always been the first resort rather than the last resort in resolving a conflict.
This is an amazing poem. You put what I think often into to beautiful words. I wish the whole world could see this and realize the way we're living is awful.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
War at the peak of the so called 'civilized era'. Big shame on us.
