Lovely poem! If we waited to understand Pablo Neruda or Shakespeare we would have never been able to bring or know our own thoughts. I agree with you one hundred percent.
(cont.) Then more of mother & baby talking. ;) But when 'great minds' were mentioned, WHY, oh WHY was I, Bri, not mentioned by name? ? ! *****
(cont.) Then it seems that your MOTHER is speaking to you, encouraging you to be born. [[ Of course many babies might decide to NOT be born IF they KNEW what 'lay ahead' of them! ! Home chores, school work, learning to live with others, etc. : ) (cont.)
dear Bharati, Beginning with stanza 5 you seem to have 'changed gears', switching from thoughts of publishing your poetry to the thoughts of an unborn baby, YOU! Am I right? (cont.)
Very wee said mam! So relatable, some time peope do ask, why do you write, simple because we love to write.
I concur with Nosheen, truly you wrote a brilliant poem, dear Bharati with a meaningful message. Top Marks and thank you for sharing these worthy poetic words
You do not need Pablo Neruda or Jayanta Mohapatra to bring out what is inside you. You seem to be doing quite well without them. Excellent work.
This beautiful poem deserves an appreciation. Yes, people compare each other. And that is the tragedy of creativity. In fact every person is a masterpiece and every poem is a masterpiece too. But comparison spoils the creativity and substrates the perception to enjoy a masterpiece/
a work of outstanding artistry, skill, or workmanship. AND...HISTORICAL a piece of work by a craftsman accepted as qualification for membership of a guild as an acknowledged master
No, don't wait until you understand Pablo Neruda. Nobody understands him! Ha! That's not true, but Pablo wrote in Spanish, and some of the translations that have been done on his poems are not the best!
What has been composed by you is best, dont mind of others and don't compare to others.Proceed ahead.
These comparisons are not good.each one of us is different If some body wants me to write as wordsworth, it is impossible Ma'am. You have done excellent.
What a lovely write Bharati...so touching and inspiring....kudos with countless stars
We can't all be Pablo Neruda or William Shakespeare, nor should we try. We can only be ourselves and use own own talents. From your writings, you have many of those!
I would not compare you With that of Pablo Neruda Or never that with Jayanta Mohapatra.... //.... Great poem and a very thought-provoking one. Each one of the writers is unique. We must celebrate the works of legendary authors and poets and enjoy their style and approach but be yourself in your creative self. Thanks a lot.
I blew a kiss on her forehead And in whisper i said Oh my child Always, always feel blessed. such a love and inspiration your poems provide.. my dear Bharati. God bless you for your loving heart. tony
twice i've clicked to send this to MyPoemList. but i don't see that it has happened. ok, now it has. PH is tardy, but not by much! ! good old PH. ;) :) and it's FREE! ! bri :)
Poets do write and leave it to world to interprete it the way they think and live. I am sure many of us won't be able to relate to the situation and circumstances in which these poems were written.
