Shadows Of Remembrance: A Darkened Melody Poem by Alexander Romanov

Shadows Of Remembrance: A Darkened Melody

Sound of the waves, a dirge of endless sorrow,
Song of the woeful wind, a haunting for tomorrow,
Beauty of yearning, a twisted, wicked art,
The tune of my heart, a symphony of a broken heart.

For once there was a time, when darkness held us tight,
And right before our eyes, love's flame consumed the night,
Days of youth are long since gone, like shadows they retreat,
Yet within these aging bones, a love that's bittersweet.

And yet the winds sing, they sing a mournful song,
And yet the waves sigh, they weep and they prolong,
For since you set out to chase your cursed dreams,
I'll stay here with this ache, as endless as it seems.

For with these wounded wings, I've never soared above,
Where all my hopes and dreams decay, like hate that turns to love,
Days of youth are long since gone, in darkness they are set,
In the waning years of life, with heartache and regret.

Do you still remember? The pain we used to share,
Would you still believe, in the depths of our despair,
That this blackened soul of mine, was once so pure and bright,
Now tainted by the years, and secrets of the night.

Years of disappointment, and despair's icy sting,
All I see in the mirror, is an old man with a ring,
Do you still remember? The darkness that we dared,
That this blackened soul of mine, was once so brightly paired.
