Shadowed Reflections Poem by Alexander Romanov

Shadowed Reflections

I seek an enemy to claim my peace,
To render shadows stark where meanings cease.
Behind me, embers whisper silent woe,
Dark flames where hidden hatreds softly grow.

A foe to breathe the twilight's mournful air,
His spectral presence lingers everywhere.
With every dawn, he weaves deceit's dark thread,
Where lies ignite with fires of rage widespread.

I yearn for one who mirrors my despair,
A haunted soul with sorrow in his stare.
Through nights he wanders, bottle clasped in hand,
A fading echo in time's shifting sand.

In him, my fractured self begins to rise,
As love I cradle slowly vaporizes.
A bloodied touch that seeks my own embrace,
Guarding secrets in silken, shadowed space.

He stands before me, eyes like moonlit glass,
Reflecting sorrows that within me pass.
Touched by specters of the night's embrace,
A fragile light within this darkened place.

A poplar's sigh sets the silent night aflame,
Fair-weather fury bursts in ghostly flight.
Devils dance in foolish masquerade,
Eerie laughter in the darkness swayed.

They mock with iron wills and granite guise,
Faces carved from pain that never dies.
From madness' shores, the darkest tides arise,
Drunken hate beneath the starless skies.

Gazing upon the void's eternal sway,
Lost within the echoes of decay,
I see myself upon the haunted floor,
Begging for resurrection once more.
