But first I have to deal with Old skin, bad teeth, grey hair Then remove the unwanted growths From just about everywhere........ as i read these lines, i simply laughed...... very interesting poem.....revealing the human mind and its desires..... thank you very much dear poet. tony
A great poem, Hazel. Rhymed and flowed really well. An unusual theme, but most welcome. Loved the humour. Good luck with the tomboy. Well done.
Beautiful wish-to-stay-young poem. But there's the rub in the last stanza. One is simply unable to pull the clock back. The following stanza reminded of Brett Ashley's character in Hemingway's novel The Sun Also Rises. Ashley, a mature woman, spoils the career of a 17 year old matador. The undercurrent of pathos is telling. The contemporary fashion imagery is beautifully incorporated. The refrain of sexy at sixty shows the preoccupation of the poet. The abcb rhyme keeps the old age and youth rolling together. Thank you Hazel for this good poem.
Senior to Senior: Thanks for the nimbly wrought, ironic chuckle.
