Sesheke Poem by Mpho Leteng

Sesheke

At Sesheke, the sun bows low,
Casting long shadows on the street,
Where laughter dances with whispered dreams,
And the air is thick with stories untold.

People gather, drawn by a magnetic pull,
An unspoken bond known only by the community,
Here, life unfolds in vibrant hues,
Alive at night, a symphony of flickering lights.

Tswana girls, Zimbabwean souls,
Wear their hopes like fine silk,
As truck drivers roll in,
With fleeting desires, the currency of survival

By the bar, they paint their smiles bright,
Dresses shimmering like stars,
Waiting for the night to breathe,
To offer them a chance,
To exchange shadows for a moment of light

At Sesheke, the cycle spins on,
Heart beats to the rhythm of longing,
Survival, and the promise of tomorrow,
