Serpes (Not Seen From Their Perspective) Poem by Darlan M Cunha

Serpes (Not Seen From Their Perspective)

*

The snakes sweat? There are controversies,
but they don't escape daily taxes
because to live is to suffer them, and you, human
paying tribute to statues (humiliating
thorn to which you give yourself with pleasure) ,
that on your knees you ask forgiveness of the worldly
(most poisoned thorn) , that's it
snakes also see each other in turns
with dangers: it's stick and stone and shot and
the worst: the prejudice that they are,
by instinct, by nature, treacherous.
Oh, you don't know men and women.
