Summer still persists
In September sunshine
My city still sweats
From the labour of the lowly
How long has the summer been
Weaving itself
Around the months like a snake
Coiled around a lifeless body
Squeezing it till its bones creak
Summer still lingers
Around the corners
Of streets where houses
Huddle like frightened children
And how can I be joyous
When seasons smile
At the helplessness
Of the concrete buildings.
