whoa, excellent. You really have a knack for bringing it all in at the end.....i know i keep saying this, but my favorite part was the very last line 'we will all become old'.....aint that the truth.....
You know... people write all sorts of 'sad poems', mostly situational or event focused, and inevitably someone comes along to say it moved them or brought them to tears. Understandable, yes, but at the same time I wonder why posts like this don't draw more of a response, why more readers don't find posts like this utterly moving. What moves me are lines like your opening one here and the whole of your third stanza... this piece in its entirety, really. This is a 'tragedy' that comes from within- not an experience but the culmulative effect of a many of them - and it, by the way, in and of itself, disproves that opening line. Well done, poet - Christine
