I would rather face My vices as enemy Than the world outside. ‘Cause beating myself Is in my hands but not a Beating of this world.......so touching and true. A great philosophical poem nicely executed.10
This sentiment especially in this time of constant incivility is so very true. We can shock those around us by failing to react. A humble nature these days speak loudly. To pull the world down in order to lift ourselves up is an illusion. We all go down as a result. I appreciate this writing for the message conveyed. Wonderful.....
thanks for poem and Poet's Notes! i especially enjoyed the first 3; 1 & 2 i liked best. to MyPoemList. Unlike Savita's vices, MY vices are SO BAD that i'd take my chances against the world instead! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ‘Cause Winning myself..i'd substitute ..Beating myself......[NOT beating myself up! ]...for...Winning myself. [syllable count stays the same] i'm not sure of the meaning of last senyru. oops! Senryu! bri :)
Thanks Bri for your comment and suggestion. I didn’t like the word winning myself too much. Though meaning is same it had a little too much weight but couldn’t think of anything else at that time. Now I have edited it with your suggestion.
A profound truth! Only when there is an adversary, our bench marks will go up or else we will stay in a self complacent mood! Wisely put!
Thank you Walsa for giving an uplift to competitive spirit of the poem with your comment.
So much said and so much left to be perceived by self introspection, in so few words! 10/10.
A very incisive and thought provoking succinct write. Great brevity, Savita. 10++++
Yes Kelly you are right. I intended to write more Senryu to that effect but got busy. Only now I have been able to compose them so adding them in comment. I thank you for your comment. I would rather face My vices as enemy Than the world outside. ‘Cause Winning myself Is in my hands but not a winning of this world
However, desire to win by a fashionable king or a tormented/tortured soldier remains to be comprehended! A very insightful piece of work!
A wonderful reflection! A beautiful Senryu dear madam....................................................10
A series of well penned Senryu on victory you have fantastically shared here, who does not desire for victory? but for it need deeds, thanks for sharing,10
