Self- Defense Poem by mohanan viswambharan Nair

Self- Defense

On the eve of that memorable day,
again a wandering near the coolest pool.
Bending to tickle the smallest waves,
the lovers step into the grove for lovemaking.
At the time of their sitting under a blossoming plant,
drizzle and breeze bless them with holy dew drops.
From the pavilion of the white flowers,
A flower fell into the beloved's lap parting from its stalk.
Balmed it with honey of inner love,
he put it in his beloved's curly lock.
In the sweet, smooth and gentle garden,
she gave him scores of warm kisses.
It twinkles on his cheeks as numerous stars.
Lovers met there many times in secret
and went on their lovemaking at the place.
Once they were detected by a squirrel,
who was living on a banyan tree next to their place.
He was really on his hunt of chow but misread by them.
It was seen trotting slowly and smelling here and there
as if he was not sure about the source of nuts.
Lovers feared their secret love would be revealed.
Found measures for their safety to keep their image,
in advance, they painted him a villain before their friends.
The poor thing puzzled at the hearing of the yarn.
Others started to ask, what trade, he has in their business?
The wary lovers pursued the path of their woe
and persisted in painting it in the ongoing love story.
At the peak of doubt, the poor creature was put in the bars.
The lovers' friends did it to stop the spread of the story.
In the long pain and peril in the cage, he was found dead-
without seeing its dearest kids and beloved.
Days and years were gone, the lovers yet to find.
The squirrel they killed in mistrust was really blind.
