The earth that is scorched with seed inside
Will bloom again in the spring.
The river that is frozen deep under ice
Will one day again forth spring.
The light of day that is choked with smoke
Will one day again shine out.
The wind that is silenced by the chill
Will again in the mountains shout.
There is hope for a summer beyond the gloom
Hope for a someday warming!
We must simply hold on and hope again
And wait for the morning.
The fields and the streams that are red
Will one day shine clear anew!
The flag that is tattered and lies ‘neath the dead
Will once more fly as if it were new.
The heart that is hardened by pain's frost
In the dawn will thaw.
But never can we ever forget
All the things we saw.
But hope yet remains without a doubt
There is something stronger than the night!
For if love can heal the fiercest wound
Our cold hearts it will warm in its light.
Love is the flower ever blooming
That will never die!
If God has given us his full grace
May the seeds sprout where they lie.
May we never cease to love and to care
Despite all the pain around.
May we not whither in this waiting time
But lay our love in fertile ground.
