Secret Tears Poem by James Sebastiani

Secret tears

"Holding back the tears"
I'm not one for plagiarism,
But i've had to 'Take That', for so many years,
Keeping it inside, just a natural mannerism,

"Behind a painted smile"
Make up that i wear, to fool all who see me,
Though now and again, once in a while,
The paint is streaked, as the tears flow freely,

"Behind the mask"
I hide my melancholy,
A difficult task,
Through the eye-slits they can see me,

So, "Behind the wall"
I cower from society,
Foetal position, tucked into a ball,
Back in the womb, free from anxiety,

Until it's time, the waiting is done,
I can be free, no longer a slave,
No more a Father, brother, or son,
The misery is over, from cradle, to the grave.
