I am glad you wrote a poem about this issue- -we all need to reconsider the treatment of animals and their place in our society. How we treat the creatures God put in our dominion is a reflection of the state of our soul

An impressive poem, we should not imprison animals for our fun.

Beautifully written poem, I love how you portrayed their lives in captivity, it really struck a chord within me. Often I wonder the same thing about the orcas - how can they stand to live in such a small space after being free to roam the ocean? It is nice to see them, yes, but they deserve to be freed. We humans do not use our understanding and compassion in the right way when committing these poor creatures to lives of captivity. Thank you for putting it out to the world - one day maybe - mankind will use their brains for the good of all and not try to imprison everything they see and want for themselves.

It is a friendly poem on animals in captivity and it is beautiful. The animal caged may be experiencing much agony and hardships which they are denied their natural habitat but humans still committing the mistake without a concern or feeling.

In no ways they love to be caged and confined. We the insensitive human are committing a crime by keeping them in captivity. Thank you Rachel for focusing this to the public. You may read my poem (Are we really best? ?)

Orca in the pool performs for the same reason a caged bird sings. Inhuman are man's actions in the disguise of showmanship. Beautiful poem indicating what needs to be done. Thank you.

I'm 100% with you on this issue, Rachel. I think it's especially unforgivable that while most animals - deer, lions, elephants, etc. - are just imprisoned, the cetaceans are forced to perform routines for the crowds. Scientists like John Lilly verified their brains are immense and we force them to do tricks! So your side has my vote: FREE THE CAPTIVES - LET THEM GO HOME TO THEIR OCEANS! ! Your poem is just the passionate commitment the cause needs.

Watch the documentary Blackfish in full, or a short version on youtube and you'll realize how despicable it is for these animals to be in captivity. Thank you Rachel for raising awareness of their plight. I tried to write how a wholphin (half dolphin, half false killer whale) might feel in a poem called 'A Wholphin's Song'. We can never fully know the depths of their suffering.

A truly heart-felt delicate issue irritating all but human beings are becoming more of animals than animals itself.... a change in attitude is called for........Rachel........very well crafted touching poem

Thank you dear friend, I also feel pain for all the other livings that we are either killing either take their freedom. As Thomas says the concept that all life is of the same value, to us the humans, is still a dream. I hope for the new world if we'd get the chance to have the law: we are all born free and equal and so we shall ever be...
