Wow! An amazing and heartfelt poem. Scary at first until realizing it was to show how the goodness of God was born in a manger. Beautiful and inspiring poem. Thank you for sharing. RoseAnn

I find this a very well-written poem, because it puts point-of-views without being didactic.. The wirdest thing for me, is that we have 'franatics' (if that word not be inappropriate) on both sides of this debate of religion vs anti-religion... Whereas, as far as my understanding is concerned, it was never supposed to be like this.. I mean, if I as an atheist do not celebrate Christmas, I have no RIGHTS to tell a believer that she or he should not do it so either, and vice-versa.. But we have 'evangelists' who are using the religion of Christ in a very impure manner, same with atheists (particularly a number of so-called New-Atheists) ... It is not about looking down upon each other based on their individual belief... If only people understood that both religion/spiritual beliefs and atheism/non-believing is NOT about hate, but about co-existing without violating each others' personal spaces, we would have had a far better world... And maybe, we have come to a point where both (popular) Christianism/Religion and to a got extent Anti-Christianism/Atheism is suddenly like everything else consummerised! ! It is all about business now, as if it were.. Christmas was about celebrating and giving, atheism was about healthy discourse without hate or prejudice... We are losing it.. Really late for it Luc, but a merry Christmas - the spirit of it - not a futile, empty celebration, but a moment to pledge for charity, love, empathy, and humanity... Thanks for sharing.. I am really happy with this acquiantance, my friend. We will be 'different' according to many, but from inside we are just humans...
I agree entirely, Souren. I am quite glad about this acquaintance myself, rare as it may be to find. Even though it is the beginning of Lent for me now, I wish you a belated Merry Christmas as well! In your review you captured the essence of what I was trying to accomplish, but I think you are only able to articulate it so well because you yourself are a reasonable, open-minded person. I don't care if someone doesn't believe in God, but I get attacked for believing in God time and again, so I appreciate your fairness. Consumerism has tainted faith and reason alike, so this poem did satire that dynamic. I wonder if the virulence of discourse on both sides is a uniquely American phenomenon that I was trying to convey. In any event, I look forward to reading more of your poems, too! It is always a pleasure to correspond with you.
