Well a definite 10 for me! You must be a very old soul Lora, with many lifetimes under your belt to be so wise! You've hit upon a fundamental truth for me Lora, unlike what is offered in your poem, love that insists on giving to another without end is not really love, it's like a used car salesman insisting we buy the car he wants to sell us. And how we all live in fear of hearing our loved one say the dreaded words of your last lines to each stanza when the truth is that we must be willing to give all these things to our loved one if we expect our love to be taken seriously. So to my ears your poem is a lovely restatement of an ancient truth that no one likes to hear, 'If you love someone, set them free. If the love between you is real, they will always return to you.' To this I would add, 'And if your love is real, you will always be willing to accept their gift, even if the gift is not quite what you were hoping for.' In my mind 'love' that only knows how to give is 'immature', unless you take the point of view that to not give (or to stop giving) to another can also be a gift. That is closer to what I would consider a definition of both 'mature' giving and 'real' love. In any case you are definitely the kind of woman I want to be loved by!
