Sambar And Lizard Poem by Prem Nizar Hameed

Sambar And Lizard

Sambar is one of the delicious and healthy dishes in the world. A customer gets a lizard in his sambar bowl. And also he notifies that a part of the lizard is missing.

A complaint against the lizard is lodged here.
The lizard is before an investigation team. It gives its confession on Tanka format (5-7-5-7-7) . And the team officer finalizes his report on the same format.

"Your honour, I saw
Sambar is served with Dosa
Idli, Vada, Rice
Even offered as side dish;
Tempted, tongue unlocked my grip"

The officer keeps his spects on the table, and ponders for a while. Then he writes his report:

"Restaurant Lizard
Fell down by temptation, soon
Sambar bowl splashed;
Missing piece was its tail, self
Defensive autotomy"

Very amusing poem! Nice Tanka. If i go to a restaurant and served Dosa and Sambar, perhaps I will look whether any lizard has unlocked its grip out of temptation.
