Now that the great white wings
are gone from our seas
now that steam thrums
and beats through
now that iridescent oil
is pressed into duty
now that the great white wings are gone
Now that the green has turned to brown
and beige in our valley
where the stream has dried
and the snow never comes
where the little ivies and berries
grow no more
now that the green has turned to brown
Now that the pine trees
have lost their silvery sap and needles
when the dim light of gray dawn
will barely come
will barely rise
in these godforsaken skies
now that the pine trees have lost their silvery sap
Now that the great white wings
are gone from the seas
we can see the truth
of this planet we've killed
we can see the end
as it comes and chokes
now that the great white wings are gone
Drifted away with the sails that have sunk
our hope upon hope has been drifted away
I never shall see a sunny day sky
now that our billowing sails have been drowned
