Sai012. Burning Oil Lamps Poem by Rajaram Ramachandran

Sai012. Burning Oil Lamps

SHIRDI SAI BABA

At Shirdi when Sai Baba came
He was very moody sometimes,
Not mingling with people there,
But muttering something or other.

He used to burst into anger,
Abusing some people there,
Otherwise, he was normal,
Moving freely with the people.

In his early days, he moved
With a few contacts, he had,
From Maruthi Temple one Devidas,
And many others like Janakidas.

He used to sing and dance
Also, he encouraged others
To sing and dance with him
In his jovial mood sometimes.

He kept oil lamps at nights,
Burning with bright lights,
At the mosque and temples,
With oils begged from shops.

The shopkeepers began to feel,
That he was wasting the oil,
And stopped their supplies
When he went to their shops.

He laughed at their ignorance,
And returned back in silence,
But still, the lamps were bright,
With no oil, they showed a light.

The shopkeepers learned a lesson,
That he was a Saint among men,
Who could only turn oil lamps
Into nice burning water lamps.

They felt sorry for their action,
Restored their supplies then,
And worshiped him not as a man,
But among men, as a Saint born.

Miracles many Sai Baba did,
For the people to trust in God,
Saying that not even an atom
Could move a bit without Him
