Yes indeed Rajnish, thank you for your kind words. Yes co-existence, we are well aware that there are those that selfishly harvest them for their tusks and yet those lost souls do not represent our race. When we as people are not jostled at the watering hole of life we are respecters and protectors of our brothers. I believe that at the core we are good.

May your favorite creature live on long after our shadows have past from this land.

Yes the gentle giant. We have much to learn from him or at the very least we should give him a wide range to follow his ancient footsteps.

To be around an elephant is a wonderful thing. They seem to carry with them the very earth that they majestically trudge across. Even in captivity an elephant never loses its nobility.

Poachers-such a low form of being. Selfish, heartless, greedy. In contrast those creatures and its defenders are all the more noble in comparison. I am in America. have only one country outside of my nation that I desire to visit and that is India. I intend to do so next year. Stay well my friend!

True story Pamela when I was in elementary school I sketched the equivalent of this picture on poster board and actually for my age it came out pretty good! Believe me because if it had not I would just as easily say it looked lousy. I really do feel this way about creatures. I am far from alone. In the poem I also convey that it is okay to feel the equal of a creature. The more we connect the less chance that we will allow those innocent creatures to be harmed, We mammals have to stick together!

Yes you are spot on. That is why I wrote the line respectful in our distance. The elephants history with mankind and poachers extends back to the Mastodon. The modern elephant is a treasure deserving respect and space.......

Thank you Bharati. I believe that most people hold the large beasts in respect however I have always thought that we should be in awe of all creatures. It seems as if the most interesting things in the natural world are taken for granted. I can't imagine being that way in fact each day I find myself more amazed by things that are often ignored.
