Painful memories follow me close to my heels
Mewing, mewing like homeless kitten
When I try to drive them away
They nuzzle at my feet
Until my eyes are welled with tears
Burying me in pools of grief
My vision is blurred until I flicker my eyelids
Letting salty streams run down my cheeks
Wowww...the powerful impact of memories so beautifully put into words. The imagery is simply awesome. Memories mewing like a homeless kitten is such an original, innovative image. A gratifying read.10 of course.
by shedding tears you can clear your heart for happy memories to play their part it's from grief that joy becomes more intense opens a path for new life to commence thanks Valsa
A lovely poem indeed. As observed by Savita and Akshat the analogy of kitten nuzzling at feet is aptly used in the context of painful memories which continuously haunt us.
Painful and sad memories do haunt us. Liked the kitten analogy.
