Only God can see perfectly what is ahead four years up the road. Imagine that He even knew us before we were formed in the womb.* Whomever it may be who rises high or falls low, the Lord rules over all. God is sovereign, turning the heads of kings and rulers which ever way He desires.** We may vote, and others may corrupt the count, but God hears and sees all.*** The Lord Himself rules the rulers, and His Almighty, all-seeing eye oversees everything.

This week I have been musing about a period of some 70 years of American history in my lifetime. I find just this snapshot of presidents to be rather revealing. Personally, I'm pleased that God never seeks our advice about what tomorrow should be. We can read and learn from yesterday; we live and breathe today; we prepare for, hope and pray for a better tomorrow. Moreover, what's done is done, and history does not lie.
