A grand soliloquy in the form of a long poem. Enjoyed reading. Thanks for sharing on PH.10 points.
very long poem he must have a lot of free time in his life... great poem
I can't quite give this a 10 because like so many romantic writers he doesn't know how to end and by overstating slips into reverse, but nevertheless in general I agree with Jerome. I certainly can't think of any other poem about one's father that achieves the heights that this does. Maybe it is too lofty, but the way he contrasts the equally beautifully described gloom of the opening with the rest is sensational. Suspension of disbelief is always needed to some extent. One of the finest eulogies ever written.
This, in my mind, is one of the most inspirational poems ever written.
