Rudraksha - Lxxxvi To Xc Poem by Parameswaran Nair Damodaran Nair

Rudraksha - Lxxxvi To Xc

Rating: 5.0

Lxxxvi

Sitting here on this vast sand bed of the sea-shore
I see the stallions of waves galloping towards the land
From where the infinite stretches of sea meet the sky
Reddened with the blood of sun slain by the knights of time

Lxxxvii

The mighty cavalry is checked at the water line and shattered
The slain sun resurrects by your boon and rises the next dawn
The mermaids rise dancing and singing welcome praise of
The prince in Golden charriot drawn by seven white horses

Lxxxviii

The terrific terminators could not hide behind the dark night
For it dawned unexpected and could not escape from the sun
Tail and head of the endless snake of time having been lost
Is crawling fast; who, saved you, knows forward or backward

Lxxxix

Waves, horripilations of the sea, appear for a moment and
Disappear by the next spreading all over, the waves of ecstasy
And merge with the salty sea water bubbling and foaming
Like a soul, on death, merges with the God in heaven

XC

It's thy teasing to make beauty and pleasure momentary
The waves which rise like the hoods of charmed serpents
To dance to the tune of MAGUDI the chamer plays,
Falls down and slither away to urge another to rise

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM

Beauty and pleasure are but momentary. Yet, we crave for that charming vision of God's manifold creations of nature to live a life of joyous wonder. A Rudraksha created with shinning beads of delightful imagery.

Beauty created by God does not last long. In other words our eyes eyes are incapable to behold the beauty the creator fills in his creations for long. Such is his illusion.

Thank you very much dear poetess. The beauty which we see with our truthful eyes and enjoy with our immaculate hearts alone is blissful and takes us close to God.

Watching the rising and falling waves by the see has spurred a chain of thought to give rise to this beautiful poem. Serpent imagery is so charming. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much Savitaji for the appreciating comments. The rising waves reminds the hood of a serpent. the retreating waves have no head nor tail like time that has no beginning nor end

The first two quatrains are indeed marvellous! Rich imagination augmented by powerful diction! The image of the sun slain by the knights of time and the sky getting stained by sun's blood is quite catchy. Also the mermaids' dance at the sight of the resurrected sun.... and the sun's regal ride in the chariot!
