Roots Poem by Samuel Richard Leonard

Roots

I have a Garden to tend
a little flower bed
but sometimes I get tired
i'm a sleepy head
would you watch me while I rest,
pour me some water check my breath?

Are my daisies in bloom?
Will they wither soon?
I can hear them whisper
such thoughtful boons
I wonder if i'll pass the test,
what will our kids say when we're dead?

Hey there little progeny
a new bud on our Family tree
growing up and branching out
our precious little baby sprout
you'll blossom soon
have your own garden too
reach to the sky
and remember your deep home roots.
