Despite being rootless, this flower proves to be quite sturdy. For millions of years the only color of foliage on earth was green. Then suddenly - in geologic time! - flowers brought color everywhere. Why? scientists wonder. Why did the earth flower with color? We poets with our FAITH IN BEAUTY know that the imperative to create beauty is reason enough. And your flower, steadfastly displaying its beauty in petals, colors and fragrances, is a simple, compelling example of the instinct within our planet to make beauty.
