Rocks Will Speak Poem by Bishnupada Sethi

Rocks Will Speak

Two thousands years ago-
The mighty king created
A perfect setting
Of rock cut caves
Ornate engravings
Amidst the thick forest
Around the ascending mighty hills
Where the streams played
Nonstop music
To the melodies of birds
For the truth seeking wanderers.

An age old tradition
Remains unbroken.
At this time of the year
There's an assembly
Of the monks from all over
From the Himalays and Kashi
South and north
East and west.

Not sure what was I seeking
As I approached an ascetic
Seated atop
Inside a cave
He wouldn't speak much
Though he whispered-
‘Look for something here
More than what you
Think as important.
Come and sit here
In silence.
Listen to your heart.
The rocks will speak to you.'
