The first I have heard of Robert. He was lucky to be the recipient of a prisoner swap, as the Taliban can be utterly ruthless. Now he faces being ostracized by the US army. Your poem shows compassion and reaches out.
1 - " Bowe Bergdahl face a court-martial on charges of desertion and endangering troops stemming from his decision to leave his outpost in 2009, a move that prompted a huge manhunt in the wilds of eastern Afghanistan and landed him in nearly five years of harsh Taliban captivity." subsequent Google items indicate he got NO PRISON SENTENCE for desertion. interesting. bri :) bri : :)
0625am,20 October 2017. What our government has done to Sergeant Bergdahl is a crime. President Obama should have issued a pardon and put an end to the madness. Then Bowe should have been given an honorable discharge with 100% disability for PTSD.
Very sad state of affairs. My heart goes out to him. Perhaps it would have been better for him to be killed? Is that what he really wanted when he walked away? We'll probably never know, unless he decides to tell us.
What a strange tale! He walked away from his unit into certain capture! What could he have been thinking? It really makes you wonder!
